Washington, DC – Congressman Anh “Joseph” Cao (LA-2) has accepted an invitation from President Obama to watch the Super Bowl at the White House with the First Family. Cao will be joined by his wife, Kate, and two daughters.
Cao said: “I cannot think of a better way to spend my Super Bowl Sunday. I get to watch our Saints play for their first Lombardi Trophy while spending hours of quality time with the President of the United States. I also will have the opportunity to bring up key issues directly affecting the people in my district.”
Cao added: “The relationship that I have been able to develop with the President and his Administration has been great for my constituents in Orleans and Jefferson Parishes. We have worked extremely well together in our first year in office, and I deeply respect his commitment to Gulf Coast recovery.”
Having read President Obama’s budget for Fiscal Year 2011, Cao applauds his decision for the continuation of funding coastal restoration, which is still a priority in Orleans and Jefferson Parishes.
While he is pleased with much of the President’s budget, Cao is concerned about the cancellation of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Constellation human spaceflight program. Should the budget pass in its current form, the cancellation could mean job losses at the NASA Michoud Facility, which is located in the Second District. This is one of the issues Cao said he would bring up for discussion this upcoming Sunday.
Cao said he will also bring a gift package from the New Orleans Saints to present to President Obama and the First Family in recognition of this historic event.
Cao said: “Just last week, President Obama told Diane Sawyer that he is rooting for the Saints more than the Colts. With this enthusiasm, we are sure to have a good time watching the New Orleans Saints win their first Super Bowl.”
